When And How Often Should I Cut My Lawn?

Irrespective of whether you are one who loves working in your yard and wants to be out there all the time or are one who wants to spend as little time working in your yard as possible, there is one question you have probably wondered.  When and how often should I cut my lawn? If you are the kind of person who hates working in the yard, you might be disappointed by the answer, as you should cut your lawn “often”; but if you are the kind of person who loves working in your yard, “often” might not be quite as often as you think.

The health of your grass will mostly depend on how “often” you cut your grass, as it needs regular trimming in order to be healthy and will also need to be kept at a certain, ideal height in order for it to thrive. When trying to figure out exactly what “often” means, know that the basic rule of thumb is that you should cut your grass no more frequently than once every seven days, and you should cut it no more infrequently than once every ten days!

Even though this might seem like “way more work” than you want to put in with your lawn, you will actually save time in the long run by mowing every seven to ten days, as this will keep your lawn from growing so tall that mowing becomes a difficult task, and will also keep your lawn healthier – which means you will need to spend less time trying to rescue it. You will also find that you will get into a routine with your lawn, and this will cause your lawn care to be a lot easier.

When you mow your lawn in this manner, you will be able to experience the rewards of a healthy lawn - without wondering all the time how often you are supposed to be cutting your grass!

How To Start Bird Watching

When you are looking for new things to do in order to enjoy the outdoors, one thing you might want to consider is bird watching. After all, although it might seem like a “boring” or “pointless” activity to some, bird watching gives you the perfect excuse to get outdoors and into nature, while also giving you something to do while you are out there. But despite the fact that bird watching is actually a fairly simple activity, you cannot simply go out into the forest and just start looking for birds. Before you get started, there are a few specific things you will need and a few specific things you will need to know.

The most important item is their binoculars; if you live in or near a city and will be going into some smaller forests and nature preserves, you will be able to get away with a less than spectacular set of binoculars, but if you live in an area with a lot of wildlife, you will want to make sure you get a powerful set of binoculars so you will be sure to not miss a thing.

In order to both know and keep track of all the things you have seen, you will need a bird watching journal; a good bird watching journal such as the National Geographic Birders Journal  will tell you what birds you are seeing, and will also allow you to mark the birds you have seen.

And one of the things that many people fail to think about when it comes to bird watching is the clothes they have ready for their jaunts through the forests; you will want to make sure you have sturdy, lightweight pants for the summer, and all throughout the year you will want to make sure you have good, comfortable walking or hiking shoes.

After you have added all these things to your pile of possessions, you will be ready to start experimenting with bird watching, and you will have everything you need to enjoy it to the fullest!

Staying Healthy By Eating On A Schedule

Knowing just how much you should eat is one of the most difficult things when it comes to eating healthy. Many people end up eating far too much because of the advice that they should “eat throughout the day,” or else they eat too little, thinking this is healthy. One of the easiest ways to combat this is to put you on an eating schedule, with regular meals and times of day.

Even though it might seem unnatural, it is true that you should eat all throughout the day; of course, this means small meals throughout the day! Breakfast, as you have certainly heard people say before is truly the most important meal of the day. Your metabolism will start working right away if you eat breakfast first thing in the morning, and if you eat throughout the day, your metabolism will continue to work.

For breakfast, you do not need a big meal, just as long as you need something that will get you and your metabolism going. But remember: You will not be eating again for another few hours, so make sure you eat enough to hold you over until your mid-morning snack.

Your mid-morning snack should be light and healthy, and it should fall right in between breakfast and lunch. And when it’s time for lunch, you can provide yourself with a meal that is satisfying and filling; don’t eat too much, however, as you should eat again a few hours later.

Between lunch and dinner, you should once again plan to have another light, healthy snack. You can eat another full meal when you get home from work or wrap up your day; but once again, remember that you may eat one more light snack a few hours later, so do not eat too much!

You will find that your metabolism is working more efficiently, and that your body is much healthier, when you start to eat five to six small meals per day at certain times of day. “Eating more often to stay slim and healthy” – as odd as this might seem – truly does work!
